A member sent me the following:
still trying to figure out how to complete 'Answer a question" I've answered about a dozen.....but nothing yet
It appears the Task progress widget is not properly updating to give him credit for answering a Question, which is the last task he has remaining as he is trying to make the task progress widget go away.
Any work-around for this possible to help him out?
update: A member started a Poll question asking other members if they had Answered one or more questions but still have not yet received credit for providing an answer. So far, 7 members have voted that they have provided answers, but the onboarding progress bar still indicates they have not answered any questions yet. I'm providing this update as it appears not to be an isolated instance of just 1-2 members.
@Shanny Nabi this related to the account completion for answers. Please update us as soon as this is resolved.
@John Kranz Thanks for reporting the issue. This is a known issue and I'll update you as soon as this gets fixed. @Eli
Hi @John Kranz ,
I am specifically replying to the below lines from your post:
If you want to disable the USER TO-DO task card until the issue get fixed, you can do that by adding the below code to the CSS Section of Advanced Settings in your Admin Panel:
NOTE: Make sure that this will completely disable the TO-DO section from your community, you can remove the code in future it get fixed.
Thanks,
Lakshya.
@Lakshya Yes, thanks for providing this. Given we have so many members joining at once, it works out better to hide this Task List because it was generating far too many user questions in our community vs. other types of content we are looking to promote. In the future, I hope that a Task Onboarding List can be configurable. I'd love to be able to control the options, like adding a Photo or Answering a Question. But, yes, there are one or two choices that weren't working out for our particular community.
But kudos to Tribe for thinking up this onboarding widget. It can be highly effective, which is why I hope it may be a config option for Admin to set it up.
You need not to worry a lot regarding this, I have provided you a temporary solution to your problem, and as I think this is not a very serious issue. I hope our Tribe Team can fix this very soon. And after that you can remove the code and can re-enable this widget.
@Lakshya I'm not worrying a lot about this because the temporary solution is perfectly fine for our community. But as mentioned above, making the Task List configurable by admin would be a wonderful enhancement.
Hi @John Kranz,
I just tested this particular widget. And, would like to tell you that the ANSWER A QUESTION part is absolutely working fine.
And, I am posting this since I have just tested the same with a temporary community.
The update that TRIBE team have to do is:-
To either mention that for completing the profile, the user must answer a question that is not asked by himself/herself.
OR
To prevent users from answering their own questions.
No problem. I edited my post above. I would have to find out from members if they were trying to answer their own question(s) and not getting credit. I thought they were trying to answer questions from others and not getting credit, however. But it sounds like it is working fine.
One suggestion if I may. I do think Members like to answer their own Questions to share their opinion (and count for the Poll). Otherwise, when they write the question, they may decide to place their answer in the question itself, which I think would not be the best way to do it (or they may add a comment). Also, if a member asks a somewhat technical question, they may come up with the answer themselves after doing research, so this is another reason why I think you may want to allow members to answer their own question. But as you say, they do not get onboarding task credit for answering their own question.
But I understand this makes it tricky then. A user needs to understand they need to answer a question from another member to get credit. How to easily communicate that? Can the UI support a mousehover/tooltip so when you go over "Answer a Question" the tooltip mentions "answer a question from another member"
@John Kranz ,
First of all, I truly believe that TRIBE TEAM will take action regarding this very soon. But, replying to your reply, I think you are asking something like below:-
Here, I just edit the page HTML, and was able to show this type of alert while mouse hover over the ANSWER A QUESTION link. But, unfortunately this can't be used. Its just a temporary edit. I will surely update you once, i get anything working related to this(In case TRIBE doesn't respond).
Thanks,
Lakshya.
Thanks, @Lakshya and no problem. I know the Tribe team will come up with the best solution in the end.
This issue is resolved now.
Wonderful. Thank you, @Shanny Nabi and @Lakshya
